Giving Gifts to Oneself
Via one of her clients, Dr. Bookworm discovered that one can give the gift of Guardianship of a Chimpanzee .... sort of adopt the somewhat endagered ape-folks. Through the Jane Goodall Institute and for the round sum of $100, one can assume Guardianship of Timi, or Petite Prince, or Nani, Gregoire, Golden, Glitter, Cindy and/or Baluku.
Armed with this knowledge, I Googled Mountain Gorillas and came up with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International and their 'Adopt a Gorilla' program. Here you can adopt an infant gorilla for $50, a mother and infant for $100, or an old Silverback for $300.
And last, but not least, I was made aware of Oxfam America Unwrapped while watching the Ellen Degeneris show a couple days ago. At this site one can purchase things for the poor people of the world: a sheep for $45, a cow for $75, a camel for $175, etc.,.
As we usually do - before launching our fortunes on any new project - we awaited a sign from God. Last night we watched the film '49 Above' and one of the feature persons walked by a storefront with the name OXFAM in big yellow letters over the door. A sure and definite sign from on high. So today Bookworm and I purchased what we trust will be the first critter in an eventual herd of donated camels.

Having a BOOKWORM Moment
I was going through a basket of old photos yesterday and came across these lovely shots of Dr. Bookworm trying to maintain a professional demeanor back when she was an M.A. just starting out in the curative business.
She had occasional self-doubts .....
But, in the main, displayed a jolly approach to the problems of mental subfunctioning.
